Rapper’s ode to modern architecture

Modern architecture has a beauty and an elegance that holds a special place in my heart. It hurts every time I hear someone use “modern” as a derogatory term. As rapper Ice Cube points out:

One man’s eyesore is another man’s Paradise.

It turns out that Ice Cube, once upon a time, studied architectural drafting. This short 2-minute film, is his thoughtful and candid tribute to the Eames House and its architects Charles and Ray Eames. He hits on the resourcefulness of modernism in putting the pieces together to create something greater which links it instantly to a kind of musical appreciation.

They was doing mash-ups befo’ mash-ups existed.

This is going green 1949 style, b#&*@!

The video appears to have been produced as a promotion for ‘Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A. 1945-1980’.

I came across the video through this Archinect post.
